Branch Safety Officer (BSO) Action Equipment & Scaffold Co. is seeking an experienced Branch Safety Officer (BSO) for our Phoenix operations.
About the Role:
This is a hands-on, field-based safety position supporting scaffold erection and dismantling operations throughout the Phoenix area. We are looking for someone who understands construction, can communicate effectively with field employees and management, and is comfortable holding crews accountable to company and customer safety requirements. Previous scaffold experience is required. Safety experience is preferred.
Responsibilities:
The Branch Safety Officer will be responsible for supporting and improving the day-to-day safety performance of our Phoenix branch, including: Conducting regular jobsite safety inspections and field audits Working directly with scaffold crews, foremen, general foremen, and superintendents Identifying unsafe conditions and correcting issues before they result in incidents Ensuring compliance with company fall-protection, scaffold, PPE, and safe-work requirements Assisting with new-hire safety orientation and onboarding Conducting and supporting toolbox talks and safety meetings Reviewing JHAs, work plans, permits, and other required safety documentation Assisting with incident, injury, vehicle, and near-miss investigations Completing incident documentation and ensuring corrective actions are followed through Maintaining branch safety equipment, PPE, and safety-related inventory Supporting customer and project-specific safety requirements Assisting with employee training and competency verification Monitoring employee compliance with company policies and procedures Working with branch and corporate management to improve safety performance Maintaining professional relationships with customers, field supervision, and employees Traveling to active jobsites throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area as required
Qualifications
Required:
Previous scaffold erection/dismantling experience Strong understanding of scaffold construction and field operations Working knowledge of fall protection and construction safety practices Ability to recognize unsafe scaffold conditions and unsafe work practices Strong communication and leadership skills Ability to professionally address and correct employees at all levels Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Ability to work independently and manage multiple active jobsites Basic computer and documentation skills
Preferred:
Previous construction safety experience Experience as a scaffold Foreman, General Foreman, Superintendent, Competent Person, or Safety RepresentativeOSHA 30 certification Scaffold Competent Person training First Aid/CPR certification Experience conducting incident investigations and safety training Experience working with commercial and industrial construction customers
