About the role

Buyer – Manufacturing$30–$40/hour DOESapphire Recruitment is partnering with an established manufacturer in Munnsville, NY to hire an experienced Buyer. This is a full-time, onsite, temp-to-hire opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with suppliers and internal manufacturing teams to keep materials available, control inventory, manage lead times, and prevent supply issues from disrupting production. The successful candidate will have hands-on purchasing, sourcing, or materials experience and be comfortable working in an ERP/MRP-driven manufacturing environment.
What You’ll Do: Manage day-to-day supplier relationships, including pricing, deliveries, material requirements, and performance. Purchase and expedite components needed to support manufacturing operations. Monitor purchase orders, purchasing triggers, vendor schedules, inventory levels, and replenishment requirements. Track incoming components and proactively address shortages, delays, and changing production demands. Communicate forecasts, schedules, and material requirements to suppliers. Partner with manufacturing, planning, supply chain, quality, and other internal teams to ensure materials are available when needed. Develop supplier recovery plans when demand changes or delivery problems occur. Identify opportunities to reduce supplier lead times and improve material flow. Evaluate supplier quotations and conduct cost, price, and value analysis. Identify and evaluate alternate suppliers when needed. Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier, pricing, inventory, specification, and consumption records. Ensure suppliers comply with established contracts and commercial terms. Maintain vendor tooling records and assist with tooling upgrade or replacement requests. Support continuous improvement related to purchasing, inventory, supplier performance, and supply-chain processes.
What We’re Looking For: 3+ years of experience in purchasing, buying, sourcing, materials, or a related supply chain function. Manufacturing purchasing experience strongly preferred. Knowledge of MRP, sourcing strategies, replenishment planning, inventory management, and material requirements. Experience working directly with suppliers on pricing, lead times, shortages, delivery performance, and other supply-chain issues. Experience with purchase orders, supplier schedules, and inventory/replenishment planning. ERP/MRP experience required; SAP experience is a plus. Strong analytical, problem-solving, organization, communication, and follow-up skills. Ability to identify potential supply problems and take action before they impact production. Understanding of manufacturing processes and component applications. Exposure to technical specifications, engineering drawings, quality requirements, or basic GD&T is beneficial. Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or a related field preferred; equivalent education and relevant experience will also be considered. Why Consider This Opportunity? This position offers the opportunity to be directly involved in supplier strategy, material availability, inventory management, lead-time improvement, and production support—not simply processing purchase orders. The position begins as a temp-to-hire assignment, with the intention of transitioning the successful candidate to the company’s permanent team based on performance and overall fit. Submit your resume to cnyjobs@hiresapphire.com for immediate consideration. Sapphire Recruitment is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
