About the role
You've been running the service department. So why isn't it yours? Maybe your company got bought, and now every decision goes through someone in another state. Maybe you're the one who actually knows how to run the board, but your quotes sit in someone's inbox for a week while your best techs walk out the door. Maybe you've had a dozen ideas for fixing the PM program and nobody wanted to hear them. What would you build if someone handed you the keys? Here's the problem we need solved. AVID just launched a commercial HVAC division. For 10 years, hospitals, assisted living facilities, property managers, and hotels across Tampa Bay have trusted us with their plumbing and restoration. Now they're asking us to take care of their HVAC too. Our sales team brings you the opportunities. Your job is to turn them into profitable work and to grow a 2-tech team to about 10 in your first year, with you deciding who joins it. You'll stand up our maintenance agreement and remote monitoring programs from scratch, and you'll be the technical voice our commercial clients trust. You've lived commercial mechanical: RTUs on hospital roofs, chillers that can't go down, VRF and controls problems that stump everyone else, and maintenance agreements that actually renew. You can price a complex changeout accurately the same day. You know the difference between a callback and a training problem. If you've built a service operation before, or you know you could if someone finally let you, then you sound like us. This isn't a startup gamble. We're a family-owned company with a decade of client relationships and real investment behind this division. It's fun, it's competitive, and our standards are high. You'll get a seat at the table, a bonus tied directly to the gross profit you build so that when the division wins, you win, and something most service managers never get: your name on the playbook. You've built someone else's department long enough. Come build yours. Not sure yet? Apply anyway and ask us anything. The first conversation is just a conversation. Don't ask us whether we're a good place to work. Ask our team: [link to reviews]The basics: $90K–$100K base plus a gross-profit bonus · company truck and fuel card · health insurance · PTO · SIMPLE IRA with 3% match
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
