Assistant Designer, Women's Off Price, Knits & Sweaters
Who You Are:
You are a creative, collaborative, and detail-oriented designer with a strong sense of fashion and a clear understanding of the brand. You bring a strong design perspective and the ability to translate creative ideas into compelling, brand-right product.
What You'll Do:
- Understand the Michael Kors aesthetic and translate it into seasonal products
- Support and collaborate with the Senior Designer on the entire product design process within Cut & Sew Knits and Sweaters categories
- Conduct trend, market, and competitive research on a seasonal basis
- Support Senior Designer in seasonal knit mock-ups and sweater knit down development
- Create sketches in Adobe Illustrator, including sketch updates as needed throughout product lifecycle
- Assist in creation of tech packs (BOMs, construction details, measurement chart) in PLM system
- Update tech packs in the PLM system after seasonal touch point meetings
- Attend weekly fittings; taking notes or updating sketches/tech packs where needed
- Communicate and collaborate with internal cross-functional teams (Sales/Merchandising, Production, and Technical Design)
- Communicate regularly and clearly to our overseas agents and global cross-functional partners regarding tech pack details and style updates
- You'll Need to Have:
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design~1 year of related experience, full-time/freelance strongly preferred
- Understanding of garment construction
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- Experience with flats/technical drawings and CADsAbility to work in our NYC office 3 days a week (hybrid schedule)PLM & Figma experience is a plus
- Lab dip/strike off approval process experience is a plus
