About the role
MEP/HVAC Project ManagerPosition Overview We are seeking an experienced MEP/HVAC Project Manager to lead mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) and HVAC projects from design through construction and commissioning. The role focuses on delivering safe, ontime and onbudget installations of mechanical systems (HVAC and piping), coordinating multidisciplinary teams, managing subcontractors, overseeing quality control, and maintaining strong client relationships. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise in MEP systems with proven project management skills and effective communication.Key ResponsibilitiesLead planning, budgeting and scheduling for MEP/HVAC projects, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met.Coordinate design reviews and value engineering with engineering teams, architects and clients to optimize system performance and cost.Manage procurement and subcontractor selection for mechanical, plumbing and HVAC scopes; oversee contracts and change orders.Supervise site construction activities, ensuring compliance with design documents, codes and safety standards.Monitor progress through regular site inspections, meetings and reports; identify and mitigate risks and resolve field issues promptly.Control project financials: track costs, forecast variations, approve invoices and manage project contingencies to meet budget targets.Oversee commissioning, system testing and handover processes, ensuring performance meets specifications and client requirements.Maintain accurate project documentation including RFIs, submittals, asbuilt drawings and O&M manuals.Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships; provide regular project updates and address client concerns.Coach and mentor junior staff and coordinate multidisciplinary teams to promote collaboration and continuous improvement.QualificationsBachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or related field (or equivalent experience).5+ years of progressive experience managing MEP/HVAC projects, including responsibility for mechanical, plumbing and piping systems.Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, piping layouts, ductwork, equipment selection, pumps, and control systems.Proven project management experience with scheduling, budgeting and contract administration. PMP or equivalent certification is a plus.Familiarity with building codes, standards and regulations (IBC, ASHRAE, NFPA, local codes) and experience with commissioning protocols.Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills; able to lead multidisciplinary teams and work collaboratively with clients and contractors.Proficient with project management and design software (MS Project, Primavera, Revit, AutoCAD, BIM tools) and Microsoft Office.Strong problemsolving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality on site.Willingness to travel to project sites and work flexible hours as project needs require.
