JOB SUMMARY: Performs skilled welding duties relative to the City's equipment maintenance and repair program.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Welds and fabricates items using all types of steel and aluminum. Assists in cleaning commercial refuse containers using a hot water washer, removing rust, straightening dents, installing nuts, chains, bolts, and screws. Assists in preparing for painting various heavy equipment, trucks, and other City equipment. Uses various hand, pneumatic, and power tools. Operates container delivery truck to transport containers to and from various locations throughout the city. Operates bobcat type loader. Inspects vehicle before, during, and after operation. Assists with maintenance and repairs as needed. Assists Transfer Station and Paint Shop as needed. Installs cameras on trucks. Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent, including or supplemented by training in all phases of welding and metal fabrication techniques; and one (1) year as a welding experience and/or metal fabrication; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a Class B CDL (or capable of acquiring within 90 days of employment) and a clean driving record. Must furnish own tools (allowance provided).Special RequirementsDRUG TESTING: All applicants are subject to pre-employment drug testing; individual in this position will be subject to random drug & alcohol testing.
