About the role

UATX seeks a dean to build America’s boldest legal program. Not another pre-law program or law school. A new way to study law. The country needs more citizens, leaders, and lawyers who spend their careers defending the Constitution. This role designs the curriculum, builds the program, finds the students, teaches them, and launches them into practice. You will recruit the faculty, manage the budget, fundraise, and run the program. You will hold the program to the highest academic standards. You must be a: Constitutionalist. Builder. Strategist. Communicator. Fundraiser. Mission alignment with UATX and a commitment to admitting students based on objective measures of their merit alone are required. We encourage sitting and former judges and practicing lawyers to apply, as well as those in academia. Compensation is commensurate with experience. Search Committee includes: Judge James C. Ho, United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit Judge Andrew S. Oldham, United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit Judge Amul R. Thapar, United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit Claire Brickman, Industry Expert in Residence, University of Austin, Co-Chair Adam Biggs, General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer, University of Austin, Co-Chair

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
