About the role
Volunteers Needed: In Situ: La JollaWe're looking for 5 volunteers to help support Presence and Place: La Jolla, a unique art exhibition featuring original works by San Diego artists displayed within a beautifully designed living environment. Rather than traditional gallery walls, In Situ places paintings, sculptures, and small-scale works throughout styled vignettes, showing how art can elevate, complement, and transform a space. Visitors will experience a range of genres and media, with an emphasis on texture, contrast, and the presence of art within a modern interior. Five volunteer positions are available:1 Door Greeter – Welcome visitors and help create a warm, inviting experience.1 First-Floor Art Monitor – Keep an eye on the artwork and assist visitors as needed.1 Second-Floor Art Monitor – Monitor the artwork and help ensure a safe, enjoyable experience.2 Roaming Art Monitors – Circulate throughout the exhibition, answer questions when possible, and help protect the artwork. In Situ: La Jolla is part of San Diego Art Directory's Activated Spaces program, which brings art into unexpected and engaging environments. If you love art, enjoy meeting people, and would like to support San Diego's local arts community, we'd love to have you volunteer!
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
