Purchasing Assistant / Logistics Coordinator Working directly alongside the Head Buyer, the Purchasing Assistant plays a pivotal role in sourcing, negotiating vendor pricing, coordinating international air freight/cargo logistics, and managing cooler inventory. This role requires an early riser who thrives in a fast-moving wholesale/perishable environment, possesses exceptional detail orientation, and is comfortable conducting daily quality checks in the warehouse. Assist the Head Buyer with daily purchasing. Negotiate pricing, product availability, substitutions, and freight rates with global suppliers. Coordinate incoming shipments with farms, customs brokers, and air cargo agencies. Track live shipments to ensure timely airport arrival, and reconcile airway bills, shipping manifests, and vendor invoices. Walk the warehouse and coolers daily to inspect floral freshness, grades, and product quality. Manage product rotation to minimize shrinkage and allocate inventory to active sales orders. Enter purchase orders into specialized software, compile weekly sales orders, create customer price lists, and process daily invoices.13+ years in purchasing, procurement, or import logistics (experience with perishables, produce, or wholesale distribution is a major plus).Ability to work a 6:00 AM 3:00 PM shift Monday Friday, plus rotating Saturday mornings (7:00 AM 10:00 AM).Bilingual English/Spanish is required to communicate effectively with international vendors and warehouse personnel. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word; quick to learn specialized floral ERP/purchasing software. Strong negotiation ability, sharp attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $55,000.00 - $70,000.00
