About the role

Visual Merchandising Associate – Museum RetailOur client, a world-renowned NYC museum and cultural institution, is seeking a Visual Merchandising Associate to support the visual presentation of its museum retail stores, creating thoughtful, engaging displays that connect art, culture, product, and the visitor experience. This is not a fashion-focused visual merchandising role. The ideal candidate will be excited by art, museums, cultural institutions, and using visual presentation to enhance a visitor-facing retail environment.
Location: New York, NY
Schedule: Fully onsite
Start Date: End of October
Type: Temporary assignment
What You’ll Do: Maintain compelling visual displays and merchandising standards across the museum’s retail stores. Spend approximately 80% of the role on the sales floor, updating and maintaining visual presentations. Execute merchandising changes and communicate updates to retail staff. Maintain and update signage supporting products and marketing initiatives. Partner closely with the Visual Merchandising Senior Manager and other retail team members. Help ensure displays align with the institution’s culture, products, image, and visitor experience. Maintain an organized visual merchandising workroom and storage areas.
What We’re Looking For: Previous visual merchandising experience or education from an art school or visual trade school. Strong interest in art, museums, and art history. Creative eye with strong attention to detail. Comfortable working hands-on and spending the majority of the day on the retail sales floor. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to work across teams and support multiple visual projects. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. This is a great opportunity for someone with visual merchandising experience who wants to work in a creative, art-driven museum environment rather than a traditional fashion retail setting.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
