Position Overview:
The Finance Systems Manager will own and support key technology platforms underlying the company's finance and accounting organization, with immediate involvement in a major ERP transformation. The position combines financial systems leadership with accounting knowledge, internal controls, reporting, and project execution. This individual will partner with internal stakeholders and external resources to translate business requirements into effective system configurations, migrate financial data, test functionality, and successfully transition users to new processes and technology. Beyond the initial systems transformation, the Manager will support additional business applications, financial reporting, systems governance, internal controls, audit requirements, and selected accounting activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Systems & Implementation Lead major finance systems initiatives from business requirements through configuration, testing, data conversion, deployment, and user adoption Translate accounting and operational requirements into practical system functionality and scalable workflows Coordinate activities across internal departments and external implementation resources Develop structured testing plans and work with users to validate new functionality prior to deployment Oversee the preparation, validation, and migration of financial data from legacy systems Serve as a finance-side systems expert and help employees transition to redesigned processes and technology Support the implementation and integration of additional business applications as the company's technology environment evolves Controls & Governance Evaluate technology controls and help maintain an effective financial systems control environment Establish recurring procedures for reviewing system permissions and identifying inappropriate or conflicting access Maintain appropriate segregation of duties across applications supporting finance and accounting Coordinate systems-related requests associated with internal control testing and external audits Maintain documentation supporting technology and financial controls Assist with remediation of identified control deficiencies Reporting & Automation Design financial reports, dashboards, and recurring data outputs that improve visibility into business and accounting performance Respond to specialized reporting requests and determine efficient methods for extracting and presenting financial information Identify opportunities to automate manual accounting activities and improve data reliability Develop scalable reporting and systems processes as business requirements evolve Accounting & Cross-Functional Support Support selected portions of the monthly accounting close where systems knowledge and accounting expertise intersect Partner with accounting, finance, operations, technology, and other business functions Provide additional support across the finance organization as needed Continuously evaluate the finance technology environment and recommend improvements to systems, controls, reporting, and workflows
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related discipline Approximately 7+ years of experience spanning financial systems, accounting, IT audit, finance technology, or another systems-oriented finance function Direct experience leading or owning at least one significant ERP implementation through the complete project lifecycle Hands-on experience with modern ERP platforms and related financial systems Strong understanding of accounting processes and how financial information flows through an ERP environment Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into system configurations, workflows, or implementation plans Familiarity with data migration, system testing, user acceptance testing, and implementation-readiness activities Understanding of financial systems controls, user access, segregation of duties, and audit requirements Strong project-management and cross-functional communication skills Ability to operate effectively between technical and accounting-oriented stakeholders
Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate combines a strong understanding of accounting with hands-on financial systems experience. This person should be comfortable leading implementation projects, working with technical resources, understanding internal controls, and translating the needs of finance and accounting teams into scalable technology solutions.
