The Research Lead balances hands-on technical expertise with people leadership, planning, and accountability.This role makes Pinnacle’s research a true competitive advantage, reducing friction for brokers, improving client confidence, and enabling the firm to operate proactively rather than reactively.Core Outcomes (What Success Looks Like)Brokers trust Pinnacle Research as a differentiator and rely on it with confidenceResearch deliverables are consistent, accurate, and delivered on agreed timelinesWorkload is planned in advance; last-minute fire drills are the exception, not the normResearch Associates are well-supported, aligned, and continuously improvingResearch systems, templates, and methodologies are documented and scalableThe Director of Operations has visibility into capacity, priorities, and performanceKey Responsibilities1. Research Strategy & OwnershipOwn Pinnacle’s research function across all commercial product types (industrial, office, retail, multifamily, land, specialty)Establish and continuously improve research standards, assumptions, templates, and methodologiesEnsure consistency and accuracy across all research deliverablesIdentify gaps, risks, and opportunities in market coverage and dataPartner with the Director of Operations to align research priorities with firm business goals and recruiting efforts2. Broker & Deal SupportEnsure timely, accurate research support for BOVs, listings, pitches, and client-facing materialsServe as a senior research resource on complex or high-profile dealsSet and communicate clear research requirements, timelines, and expectationsReduce rework by ensuring clarity and completeness at intakeCollaborate closely with Marketing to ensure seamless handoff of data and assumptions3. Team Leadership & DevelopmentTrain and develop Research Associates and internsSet clear priorities, deadlines, and performance expectationsProvide coaching, feedback, and support, especially during high-volume periodsBuild bench strength through cross-training and documented processesFoster a culture of accountability, learning, and continuous improvement4. Planning, Capacity & AccountabilityOwn weekly, monthly, and quarterly research planningAnticipate workload spikes and proactively manage capacity and prioritiesTrack turnaround times, bottlenecks, and quality metricsEscalate risks early with proposed solutionsEnsure commitments are realistic, visible, and met5. Data, Systems & ToolsMaintain mastery of research and data tools including CoStar, LoopNet, CoreLogic, Excel, RealNex CRM, and internal databasesOwn the health, structure, and integrity of Pinnacle’s research databasesEnsure version control, data accuracy, and audit-ready documentationContinuously improve efficiency through systems, automation, and workflow improvements6. Training & EnablementTrain Research Associates and brokers on research tools, databases, and best practicesSupport onboarding of new brokers and staff related to research and data systemsServe as a firm-wide resource for research-related questions and standards7. EOS & Operational DisciplineFully own the Research seat on the EOS Accountability ChartMaintain a Research Scorecard with measurable KPIsSet, track, and complete quarterly RocksParticipate actively and prepared in L10 meetingsContribute to Quarterly Conversations and talent planningRequired Skills & ExperienceCommercial real estate research or related experience (2+ years preferred)Strong understanding of valuation concepts and market dynamicsAdvanced Excel skills and comfort working with large datasetsExperience managing, mentoring, or leading othersStrong written and verbal communication skillsHigh attention to detail with the ability to see the big pictureStrong planning, prioritization, and time-management skillsAbility to work independently, make decisions, and follow throughPreferred QualificationsPrior experience in commercial real estate brokerageWorking knowledge of CoStar and similar platformsExperience working in a fast-paced, broker-driven environmentWhat We OfferCompetitive annual salary between $50,000 to $70,000, commensurate with experience, plus bonus potentialAll-purpose paid time off (PTO) and flexible work optionsMedical insurance with up to 60% of employee premiums covered, 50% for dependents; dental and vision available401(k) plan with employer matchOpportunities for growth in creative project ownership, real estate marketing strategy, and leadershipA vibrant, collaborative workplace culture that values creativity, autonomy, and resultsPinnacle Real Estate Advisors is an equal opportunity employer committed to creating an inclusive environment for all team members.
