Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Quality/Test Engineer 3 in Decatur, IL. The work will be done 100% onsite, full-time, on first shift. This is a 12-month position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is up to approximately $45/hr W-2 + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).
Job Summary: The Quality/Test Engineer 3 will support manufacturing quality operations by leading timely emergency, interim, and permanent corrective actions for customer and internal quality events. This individual will serve as a key liaison between manufacturing plants and component operations, working directly with quality and manufacturing engineering teams to investigate issues and drive root-cause corrective action. The role combines hands-on work on the factory floor with office-based analysis, reporting, and continuous improvement activities. The engineer will also support Built-in Quality initiatives and quality improvement projects using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D and Six Sigma.
Key Responsibilities: Lead emergency, interim, and permanent corrective actions for customer and internal quality issues. Inspect and contain quality concerns, communicate findings and data to factory quality teams, and actively participate in root-cause corrective action (RCCA).Apply 8D, Six Sigma, and other structured problem-solving techniques to manufacturing quality issues. Lead quality improvement and continuous improvement projects using Office 365 and analytical tools. Partner with Manufacturing Engineering and other cross-functional teams while maintaining effective internal and external customer relationships. Serve as an ambassador, coach, and sub-workstream leader for Built-in Quality initiatives. Work effectively in a hands-on environment that includes both the factory floor and office.
Required Qualifications: 5+ years of relevant experience. Internships are accepted as applicable job experience. Education may include: Bachelor’s degree preferred Associate degree with 10 years of relevant experience Master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience Strong working knowledge of quality standards and manufacturing operations. Experience applying 8D or similar structured problem-solving techniques in a manufacturing environment. Working knowledge of engineering, design, manufacturing, and maintenance processes. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including analytical applications. Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional approach to working across teams. Ability to influence others, lead teams through problem solving, drive compliance, and support continuous improvement.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Six Sigma, 8D, RCCA, corrective action, containment, and continuous improvement methodologies. Experience working directly within manufacturing or factory quality operations. Strong numerical and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to motivate and influence cross-functional teams during quality investigations and improvement initiatives. Why This Role?
