About the role

Position Summary: The Traveling Safety Coordinator provides safety and health support to field and corporate personnel. Applies corporate safety and health programs and objectives and coordinates safety training programs. Monitors project sites and provides support to field personnel to ensure compliance with federal and state safety and health regulations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Provide safety leadership creating enthusiasm and participation among all employees including subcontractors, resulting in excellent safety performance. Assist in the development, implementation, and updating of all safety policies and procedures. Spend time assisting in the creation of site specific safety plans and job hazard analysis, reviewing site specific safety plans and job hazard analysis, and auditing sites. Coordinate and participate in regulatory agency inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. Recognize unsafe and hazardous conditions and take corrective action immediately. These actions include but not limited to immediate correction, isolating and restricting the areas access until corrected, stopping all work as needed until condition is corrected and reporting conditions to appropriate supervisor along with recommended action. Investigate and document accidents, including but not limited to bodily injury, property damage, automobile and near miss accidents. Process, administer and follow through on all new Workers' Compensation claims. Accompany and/or send injured employees to the clinic for evaluation, follow up and communicate with the clinic and workers compensation carrier. Manage and maintain up-to-date records in ISN, NCMS, and other third party sites to ensure Superior is in good standing with customers. Provide training and education to Company personnel regarding safety requirements, including coordination of new hire safety orientation programs and administering drug safety program. Maintain jobsite first aid and emergency response supplies as needed. Develop and maintain all required project safety records such as MSHA binder, Haz Comm manuals, employee training records, and emergency response plans. Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and collection as required by law. Assist with fire prevention activities and audits. Assist in purchasing, issuing, inspecting and tracking personal protection equipment (PPE).Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule to include overtime as needed. Must be able to travel up to 80% throughout Texas, and out of state, as needed / but will be based out of our Italy office. Must be on call for assisting injured employees or incidents. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Experience and Education: Required Education &
Work Experience: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in related field preferred and 2 years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. MSHA experience preferredOSHA 30-Hour preferred Ability to speak and read in Spanish requiredCPR/First Aid certification/Mobile Equipment Operator Train the Trainer (TTT) preferred Industry Knowledge: General knowledge of construction principles/processes required. Knowledge of concrete construction safety methods preferred. Solid understanding of Federal, State and local safety, environmental and occupational health regulations. Basic understanding of state Workers Compensation laws and reporting requirements. Intermediate PC skills with experience in MS office products such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook are required.
