About the role
Foundation Seed Assistant We are hiring for a Foundation Seed Assistant who can support field trial operations and helps coordinate daily work assignments for a team of temporary labor contract workers. This role includes giving clear instructions to ensure tasks are completed safely and efficiently, and supporting day-to-day horticultural operations.
This position is in the area of Bakersfield, CA.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate daily assignments for a crew of labor contract workers
Provide direction and instructions to temporary workers to complete tasks safely and efficiently
Monitor plant conditions, growth stages, and diseases in field trials
Report trial status to breeders and/or the Station Manager
Take action as needed based on field conditions and direction provided
Perform horticultural tasks including (but not limited to): Field preparation Irrigation scheduling Fertilization Cage construction Pesticide / fungicide / herbicide applications
Requirements:
HS or equivalent; Associate degree preferred.
1-3 years of experience research farm experience.
Ability to train and work with lab chemicals and apply agro-chemicals.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to work in office, open field, cages and green house work with temps. close to 100 degrees.
Pay:
$20-$25/hr Schedule: 7am-3:30pm ( Monday - Fridays )
