About the Role: Our client is seeking a dedicated and innovative Metallurgist to join their processing division near Welkom. This role is central to optimizing the extraction and recovery of valuable metals from ore. You will be responsible for supervising and conducting metallurgical tests, analyzing process data, and implementing strategies to improve recovery rates and product quality. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge metallurgical technologies and contribute to the efficiency and profitability of a major mining operation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong theoretical foundation in metallurgy combined with practical experience in mineral processing.
Key Responsibilities: Supervise and conduct laboratory and pilot plant test work to optimize mineral processing circuits. Analyze metallurgical data to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and recommend process improvements. Monitor and control key process parameters to maximize metal recovery and concentrate grade. Develop and implement process control strategies for crushing, grinding, flotation, and other relevant circuits. Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to ensure safe and efficient plant performance. Prepare technical reports on metallurgical performance, plant trials, and recommendations.
Requirements: Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline. Minimum of 6 years of experience in base metals or precious metals processing. Proven experience in mineral processing techniques, including flotation, leaching, and gravimetric separation. Proficiency in metallurgical accounting and process simulation software. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
