About the role

Build the applications scientists and engineers in biopharma manufacturing use to ask their records questions, check the sources and act on the answers. You'll build across the Katalyze platform: the screens where experts review what the agents assembled, the services behind them, and the connections to the systems a plant already runs, such as MES, LIMS and quality management systems. Everything we build has to stay traceable, so experts can see where each answer came from and who signed off on it. You'll join a small engineering team in Toronto and work closely with our AI and deployment teams. You'll ship often, talk to customers, and own what you build from the first commit to production. The role is hybrid, based in our Toronto office.
What you'll do:
  • Build features end to end in TypeScript, React and PythonDesign the review screens where experts check sources and decide
  • Connect the platform to the MES, LIMS and quality systems customers already use
  • Keep the platform fast, reliable and secure as customers and data grow
  • Design APIs and data models that keep every record traceable and auditable
  • Join customer calls and site visits to see how the product is used
  • Review code, write tests and improve how the team ships
  • What we look for
  • Four or more years building web applications in production
  • Comfort across the front end, the back end and the data between them
  • Clear writing and a bias toward shipping
  • Interest in the science behind the work
  • Strong TypeScript and React, and working experience with Python
  • Experience designing APIs and relational data models, ideally in Postgres
Nice to have:
  • Experience with regulated software or audit trails
  • Experience building products on top of language models or search
  • Familiarity with AWS, Docker and infrastructure as code
  • Katalyze is an equal opportunity employer.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
