About the role
Affineur Position The Affineur is responsible for maintaining cheeses within the caves, prepping cheeses for sale, assisting with QA activities, and sanitizing the workplace. The Affineur works independently but trains new employees when called upon. The Affineur is equally a part of the Quality Control/Food Safety team and is integral in ensuring that we are selling safe, quality food. The Affineur: Motivates the team with a positive spirit while leading by example. Thinks a few steps ahead, retaining a clear focus on what's best for teams and company goals. Understands the depth of people and manages each one individually. Is always the most ethical person in the room, addressing and resolving issues as they arise. Has passion for our products and looks to develop knowledge to coach the team to continued success. The Affineur's responsibilities include: Ensuring that every cheese in our caves receives proper and individual care. Ensuring that proper GMPs are followed when handling any cheese in our caves. Managing rotation of all cheeses as they travel through the caves and cold storage. Working amicably with fellow cave workers and production employees. Establishing, following, and enforcing safety standards and procedures. What we need from you:1+ years working in a food production/restaurant environment. Great attention to detail. Ability to work independently. Strong organizational and communications skills. Cheesemaking or Affinage experience is highly desirable.
