About the role
Government Account Executive Our client, a well-established capital equipment distributor representing leading machine tool builders, is seeking a Government Account Executive to lead a dedicated government sales channel. This is a strategic, high-impact role responsible for bridging the gap between original equipment manufacturers, an existing national sales team, and government buyers at the federal, state, and institutional level. The U.S. government is the single largest purchaser of machine tools in the country — and this role sits at the center of capturing that demand. You will own the full lifecycle of government equipment sales, from pipeline development and bid management through contract execution, shipping, installation, and invoicing. If you thrive navigating the intersection of complex capital equipment sales and federal procurement, this is a rare opportunity to build something from the ground up. Location Although this role will work remotely, this individual should reside in a location that will allow for regular travel across the East Coast. Projects You'll Work OnDevelop and grow a high-quality sales pipeline targeting federal, state, local, and educational institution buyers across fabrication and metalworking segments. Lead the end-to-end bid and proposal process — researching opportunities, pre-qualifying requirements, and submitting competitive GSA and agency-specific quotes. Monitor contractor performance, analyze government notices, and maintain ownership of all status reporting and process documentation. Train and develop team members on government sales processes, and partner with IT and marketing to improve internal workflows and systems. Interface with the accounting team on billing, invoicing, and basic financial operations related to government contracts. What Experience You Should Bring 5+ years of proven experience in sales or business development, ideally within capital equipment, industrial distribution, or a related B2B environment. Previous experience quoting, submitting, and managing government bids or working with GSA/MAS (Multiple Award Schedule) contracts is required Working knowledge of federal procurement platforms including SAM.gov, DIBBS (Defense Logistics Agency), and PIEE (Procurement Integrated Enterprise Environment).Familiarity with FAR regulations, NIST compliance standards, and CMMC 2.0 certification frameworks. Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and documentation skills — you write clearly and persuasively. Project management experience with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders across logistics, engineering, and procurement. Self-starter mentality with disciplined time management and an ability to travel as needed for installations, site visits, and client meetings. Familiarity with metal fabrication equipment (CNC press brakes, lasers, fabrication machinery) is helpful but not required. BS/BA in Management, Business, or a related field preferred. Why This Opportunity Stands Out Opportunity to build and scale a dedicated government sales channel within an established capital equipment distribution platform. Direct access to relationships with top-tier machine tool OEMs and a national sales infrastructure. High-visibility role with significant autonomy, strategic influence, and a clear path to Director as the channel grows. The federal government spends nearly $1 billion annually on industrial products through GSA alone — and this role is positioned to capture a meaningful share. Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
