Candidates with CBAP certifications through the IIBA will be front listed by the hiring manager Secondary Skills - Nice to HavesJob Description Senior Business Analyst
Position Overview: A large financial institution is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to support initiatives within its Treasury organization. This individual will serve as a key liaison between Treasury business stakeholders and technology, data, QA/testing, and delivery teams. The ideal candidate brings hands-on Treasury domain experience along with strong core Business Analyst capabilities. This person must be comfortable taking complex business needs, breaking them down into actionable requirements and user stories, and maintaining clear traceability from the original business objective through design, development, testing, and implementation. This is not a generalist BA role. Candidates should understand how Treasury functions operate within a large, complex, regulated banking environment. Key Responsibilities1. Strategy & Requirements Gathering Partner directly with Treasury stakeholders to understand business objectives, current-state processes, pain points, regulatory considerations, and technology needs. Lead requirements elicitation sessions, workshops, interviews, and working sessions with business and technical stakeholders. Translate Treasury business needs into clear functional and non-functional requirements. Analyze current-state and future-state processes and identify gaps, dependencies, risks, and downstream impacts. Challenge and clarify requirements to ensure the team is solving the underlying business problem rather than simply documenting requests. Facilitate alignment between Treasury, technology, data, architecture, operations, and risk/control stakeholders. Support requirement prioritization and help establish acceptance criteria and measurable business outcomes.2. Requirements Packaging & User Stories Decompose broad business requirements and epics into well-defined features and user stories that technology teams can execute against. Candidates must be able to "rock crush" large, complex requirements, breaking them into smaller, testable, development-ready stories without losing the original business intent. Write detailed user stories with appropriate acceptance criteria, business rules, data requirements, dependencies, assumptions, and exception scenarios. Partner with Product Owners, Scrum Masters, developers, architects, and QA teams during backlog refinement and sprint planning. Ensure stories meet appropriate Definition of Ready standards before entering development. Clarify requirements throughout the development lifecycle and quickly resolve ambiguity or gaps identified by delivery teams. Experience working within Agile/Scrum environments and tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps is strongly preferred.3. Traceability & Cross-Functional Collaboration Establish and maintain end-to-end requirements traceability from business objectives and requirements through user stories, technical solutions, data requirements, test cases, defects, and final implementation. Maintain a clear Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) or equivalent traceability framework. Collaborate closely with: Treasury/business stakeholders Application development and engineering teams Solution and enterprise architects Data analysts and data engineering teamsQA and UAT teams Risk, controls, compliance, and operations teams Partner with data teams to identify source-to-target requirements, data mappings, transformations, business rules, data quality requirements, and reconciliation needs. Work with testers to ensure test scenarios and test cases appropriately cover documented business and functional requirements. Participate in defect triage to determine whether issues are related to requirements, data, technology implementation, or testing. Ensure changes to requirements are reflected throughout downstream artifacts to maintain traceability.
Treasury Domain Experience: Candidates must have prior experience working within Treasury or Treasury Technology at a large bank or financial institution. Relevant experience may include exposure to areas such as:
  • Liquidity management and liquidity risk
  • Cash and funding management
  • Balance sheet management
  • Asset Liability Management (ALM)
  • Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP)
  • Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB)
  • Capital and liquidity reporting
  • Treasury data and reporting
  • Cash-flow forecasting
  • Funding and deposit analytics
  • Treasury risk and controls
  • Regulatory liquidity requirements such as LCR and NSFRTreasury management systems and related data platforms
The BA does not need to be a Treasury quant, but must have enough domain knowledge to speak the language of Treasury stakeholders, understand the business processes and data, and translate those needs effectively for technology teams.
Required Qualifications: 5+ years of Business Analyst experience within banking or financial services. Demonstrated experience supporting Treasury or Treasury Technology initiatives. Strong requirements elicitation, documentation, and analysis skills. Demonstrated ability to break complex business requirements into clear, granular user stories and acceptance criteria. Strong experience with requirements traceability across business, technology, data, and testing. Experience working directly with developers, architects, data teams, QA/testers, Product Owners, and senior business stakeholders. Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies. Experience with Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or comparable requirements/delivery tools. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to operate effectively in a large, highly matrixed and regulated banking environment.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting enterprise Treasury transformation or modernization programs. Experience with Treasury data, reporting, regulatory, liquidity, ALM, or funding initiatives. SQL or strong data-analysis skills. Experience creating process flows, data mappings, business rules, and RTMs. Familiarity with Treasury platforms such as Kyriba, FIS Quantum, Finastra, Murex, Calypso, or similar platforms is beneficial but not require

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
