As a Sr. Technician - Bus, you will diagnose complex vehicle issues, complete repairs and preventive maintenance, support Master Technicians, and mentor lower-level technicians. What You Will Do: Diagnose and repair transit buses, mechanical equipment and automotive vehicles, including gasoline, diesel and alternative-fuel systems. Troubleshoot electronic control modules, emissions systems, high-voltage components and alternative-fuel technologies. Use computerized scanners, oscilloscopes, telematics systems and other diagnostic tools to resolve mechanical and electrical issues. Perform preventive maintenance inspections to help vehicles meet safety and operational standards. Work with Master Technicians, Foremen, Service Writers and Fleet Managers to resolve recurring failures and improve maintenance processes. Train and mentor Fleet Technicians A and B in diagnostic techniques, proper tool use and maintenance best practices. Follow applicable local, state and federal safety regulations, including OSHA, EPA and DOT requirements. Perform emergency roadside repairs and maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs and parts usage. Assist with updates to technical service bulletins, fleet management policies and training materials; perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience: A high school diploma or GED certificate. A certificate and six months of vocational training. Two years of experience servicing, maintaining and repairing varied automotive equipment. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Licensing, Testing and ToolsA Florida Driver's License and the ability to obtain a Florida Class B Commercial Driver's License with a Passenger (P) endorsement within the first 90 days of employment. HART will provide CDL training if needed. Ability to pass a written competency test and meet established agency training, testing and qualification guidelines. Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of standard transit servicing and maintenance methods, practices, tools and equipment, including job-related occupational hazards and safety precautions. Ability to operate maintenance equipment safely, follow oral and written instructions, and learn and maintain working knowledge of HART technical manuals and procedures. Basic computer skills, including Outlook, Word and Excel. Ability to work effectively with a variety of personalities and perform tasks requiring physical strength and endurance when needed. Availability for various shifts, hours and days, including overtime, weekends and holidays as needed; ability to meet attendance requirements.
Work Environment and Physical Demands: Frequent walking, sitting, standing and squatting; occasional lifting and carrying of supplies and equipment weighing 50 pounds or more. Constant use of hearing, speaking, near and far visual acuity, depth perception and color vision. Visual acuity is necessary to perform all duties. Work in all weather conditions, with occasional exposure to shop noise of 85 decibels or higher. Exposure to mechanical hazards, fumes, odors, paints and chemical hazards in shop areas.
