Job Description: Switchgear Assembly Technician

Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, First Shift
A day in the life You start your morning at a clean bench with a fresh set of drawings and wiring diagrams. After reviewing the spec, you lay out breakers, relays, meters, terminal blocks, and DIN rail, then mount every component with precision. By mid-morning, you’re cutting, bending, drilling, and installing copper bus bar exactly as called out, ensuring fit and clearances are spot on. After lunch, you route and label control wiring, crimping the correct connectors and lugs, and then pull out the torque wrench to verify every bolted connection. You finish the build with continuity and point‑to‑point checks, mark results per quality procedures, and complete inspection documentation. If needed, you help package finished gear for shipment, assist with receiving parts, and keep the workcell tidy and safe.
Your impact:
- Build electrical switchgear to specification from assembly drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
- Mount and secure electrical components including breakers, relays, meters, terminal blocks, and DIN rail.
- Fabricate copper bus bar (cut, bend, drill) and install per prints.
- Route, label, and terminate control wiring using proper lugs, connectors, and crimp tools.
- Perform torque verification on bolted joints and record/mark per quality requirements.
- Conduct continuity and point‑to‑point checks to validate correct wiring.
- Inspect and document results to meet quality standards.
- Package completed products and prepare orders for shipment as needed.
- Assist with receiving inventory and general production support.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace; follow all safety procedures.
- What you’ll bring (Required)
- Hands‑on skill with hand/power tools and measuring devices (tape measure, calipers, torque wrenches).Ability to read and interpret basic drawings and wiring diagrams.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Reliable attendance and positive work ethic.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Nice to have:
(Preferred) Background in switchgear, panel, or electrical/electronic assembly. Technical education or training (trade school, apprenticeship, or military experience).Experience fabricating bus bar and/or terminating control wiring. Experience using a multimeter for continuity testing. Packing and shipping experience.
