About the role

Staff Hardware Engineer | Robotics | New York City | $225K–$275K + EquityA robotics system behaving properly in development is one thing. Getting it working reliably on a live manufacturing line is another. I’m working with an early-stage physical AI company in New York City already deploying robotic systems with a major defence prime. They are now hiring a Staff Hardware Engineer to take ownership of the hardware side of those deployments. You’ll work across the gap between engineering and the real production environment. That means: Deploying robotic hardware onto live manufacturing and defence production lines Owning hardware integration, commissioning and troubleshooting on site Working closely with machine learning engineers to get models performing reliably on physical systems Taking problems found in the field back into hardware design and reliability decisions Helping establish hardware engineering standards as the team grows This is a hands-on Staff-level role. You’ll be close to the hardware, the deployment environment and the problems that only appear once a system leaves development. They are looking for someone with senior robotics hardware experience and evidence of deploying physical systems into production or field environments. You should also be comfortable working across hardware and software, with practical experience around sensors, actuators and robotic platforms.
Salary: $225K–$275KEquity: Competitive equity
Location: New York, NYWorking pattern: Full-time, 5 days on-site Due to the nature of the work, US citizenship is required. The company cannot sponsor visas or employ green card holders for this position. If your background is in robotics hardware, integration or field deployment and this sounds close to the work you want to be doing, get in touch for a confidential conversation.

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
