About the role
- Develop and maintain relationships with existing manufacturing customers while identifying new business opportunities.
- Communicate with customers to understand product specifications, quantities, applications, delivery expectations, and manufacturing requirements.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications
- Review customer RFQs (Requests for Quotation) and determine the information needed to prepare an accurate estimate.
- Develop cost estimates and customer quotations based on drawings, materials, manufacturing processes, quantities, and other project requirements.
- Submit estimates and quotations to the Engineering Department for technical review and approval, making revisions when necessary.
- Follow up on outstanding quotes, sales opportunities, and customer inquiries.
- Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Purchasing to evaluate customer requirements and support accurate pricing.
- Understand and recognize different manufacturing processes, including machining and metal stamping
- Provide ongoing customer service related to quotations, orders, technical questions, delivery requirements, and account needs.
- Develop a strong understanding of the company's manufacturing capabilities and effectively communicate those capabilities to current and prospective customers.
- Maintain accurate records of customer activity, quotations, follow-up, and sales opportunities.
- 3-5 years of sales experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Previous experience in manufacturing, technical sales, estimating, account management, or industrial sales is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes; experience with machining and/or metal stamping is especially helpful.
- Ability to understand customer specifications and translate technical requirements into accurate estimates and quotations.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
- Ability to manage multiple RFQs, quotations, customer requests, and priorities simultaneously.
- Comfortable working directly with customers as well as engineering and manufacturing personnel.
- Computer proficiency and ability to learn estimating, ERP, CRM, and other manufacturing-related software.
