Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Scribe w/ a background in Cornea care to support our ophthalmology team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in medical documentation, excellent typing and transcription skills, and a comprehensive understanding of ophthalmic anatomy and physiology. As an integral part of the clinical team, the Ophthalmic Scribe will accurately record patient encounters, assist with electronic health records management, and ensure compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality policies. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient care while developing expertise in ophthalmology and corneal health.
Responsibilities:
Transcribe detailed clinical notes during patient examinations, ensuring accuracy and completeness of medical documentation. Support ophthalmologists by preparing and updating electronic health records (EHR) and electronic medical records (EMR) systems with relevant patient information. Assist in managing patient interactions by documenting symptoms, medical history, and treatment plans in accordance with clinical confidentiality policies. Maintain proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology related to ophthalmology, particularly corneal health. Achieve and uphold HIPAA compliance standards by safeguarding patient information during all documentation processes. Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure timely and accurate recording of medical records, including test results, diagnoses, and treatment notes. This position has the potential for after-hours and weekend cornea "on call" (with additional pay) Help monitor and implement processes for the cornea team, Various administrative tasks when MD is in surgery or out of the office. Skills Proven experience with medical office procedures, including EMR/EHR systems management. Expertise in medical transcription, typing accuracy, and medical documentation standards. Demonstrate strong typing skills and medical transcription abilities to facilitate efficient workflow in a fast-paced clinical environment. Knowledge of ophthalmic anatomy, physiology, and common clinical procedures related to corneal health. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining strict patient confidentiality at all times. Strong understanding of medical terminology relevant to ophthalmology and general healthcare practices. Excellent writing skills for clear, concise, and comprehensive clinical notes. Ability to adapt quickly to new electronic systems and maintain high levels of accuracy under pressure.
