Role Description: The Information Technology System Administrator is a full-time remote role responsible for maintaining and supporting IMS Consulting customer's IT infrastructure and related systems. This role manages servers, user accounts, and system configurations, ensuring stable, secure, and efficient operations across cloud and on-premises environments. Day-to-day tasks include monitoring system performance, applying updates and patches, managing backups, and maintaining network connectivity. The System Administrator will provide technical support to internal teams, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and assist with implementing new tools and integrations that support workplace management and analytics solutions. Collaboration with security, project, and consulting teams to document procedures, improve reliability, and support continuous improvement is an important part of the role.
Qualifications: Candidates should possess strong Linux System Administration skills, including server management, user access control, and configuration of operating systems and enterprise applications. Candidates should possess Network Administration skills, such as managing switches, firewalls, VPNs, and network monitoring tools to ensure secure and reliable connectivity. Candidates should possess Technical Support and Troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity issues for remote and on-site users. Candidates should possess a solid foundation in Information Technology, including understanding of IT best practices, security principles, and infrastructure architecture. Relevant additional qualifications include experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS), scripting or automation tools, and familiarity with ITIL practices. Effective communication skills, the ability to work independently in a remote environment, strong documentation habits, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving are essential. An associate or bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, is preferred; CompTIA Security+ is a requirement. Experience supporting US Federal Government and/or Department of War customers is a requirement.
