Role Description:
The Associate Attorney will handle a full caseload of family law matters, including divorce, custody, support, and related issues, from initial consultation through resolution. Day-to-day responsibilities include drafting pleadings and motions, preparing and reviewing agreements, conducting legal research, and providing clear, practical legal advice to clients. The role involves negotiating settlements, representing clients in court hearings and mediations, and collaborating with colleagues and staff to ensure efficient case management. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Oakland County, MI, requiring regular in-person client meetings and court appearances. The Associate Attorney will also assist with firm initiatives, maintain accurate case files, and uphold firm standards of ethics and professionalism.
Qualifications:
Strong foundation in Law and demonstrated experience or interest in family law practice.
Ability to provide clear, practical Legal Advice and guide clients through complex decisions.
Proficiency in legal Research, including case law, statutes, and court rules.
Effective Negotiation skills for settlements, mediations, and client advocacy.
Active license to practice law in Michigan, in good standing.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including drafting and courtroom advocacy.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
Commitment to client-centered service, confidentiality, and professional ethics.
Prior family law experience or relevant clerkship is preferred, but motivated candidates with transferable skills are encouraged to apply.
