Company Description: The Cadence Institute for Policy & Society is dedicated to advancing discovery and innovation through interdisciplinary research that addresses pressing social and policy challenges. Role Description: The Policy and Research Internship is a remote internship role that supports the Institute’s research and policy initiatives. Interns will assist with literature reviews, data collection, and qualitative and quantitative analysis across focus areas such as HIV/AIDS funding, higher education, LGBTQAI+ issues, civil rights, and economic and community development. Day-to-day tasks may include drafting research summaries and briefs, preparing policy memos, supporting the development of reports and presentations, and helping organize project materials. Interns will collaborate with Institute staff to synthesize findings, track relevant legislation and policy developments, and contribute to communication materials that translate research into accessible formats for broader audiences. The role offers opportunities to build practical research skills, gain exposure to policy processes, and contribute to impact-focused projects.
Qualifications: Strong Policy Research and general Research skills, including the ability to conduct literature reviews and synthesize complex information. Solid Analytical Skills and familiarity with Economics concepts relevant to public policy and community development. Effective Communication skills, including clear writing for non-technical audiences and professional verbal communication. Demonstrated interest in at least one of the Institute’s core areas: HIV/AIDS funding, higher education, LGBTQAI+, civil rights, or economic and community development. Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines. Proficiency with common research and productivity tools (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, citation management); basic data analysis or visualization skills are a plus. Current enrollment in or recent completion of a program in public policy, political science, sociology, economics, public health, or a related field is preferred.
