CNC Milling Machine Setup Operator 1st Shift (Climate-Controlled Shop)
Location: Wood Dale, IL
Shift: 1st Shift | 6:00 AM 2:30 PM | Monday Friday

Key Responsibilities:
Independent Machine Setup: Perform complete, complex setups from scratch on CNC milling machines, including installing advanced tooling, fixtures, and specialized workholding devices.
Precision Parameter Adjustments: Set and verify machine offsets, adjusting speeds, feeds, and parameters to achieve rigid blueprint dimensions and flawless surface finishes.
Blueprint & GD&T Interpretation: Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, customer blueprints, work instructions, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) symbols daily.
Meticulous Quality Inspections: Perform full first-piece, in-process, and final part inspections using precision tools including bore gauges, height gauges, micrometers, and calipers.
Troubleshooting & Program Optimization: Identify, diagnose, and resolve tooling or machining issues at the machine to minimize scrap, reduce downtime, and optimize tool life.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with programmers, quality teams, and shop supervisors to resolve technical challenges and drive continuous improvement.
Position Requirements:
(What You Bring):Experience: 3+ years of dedicated experience setting up and operating CNC milling machines within a precision machine shop or custom fabrication environment.
Setup Autonomy: Proven ability to completely set up tooling, specialized fixturing, and offsets without supervision.
Inspection Literacy: Highly proficient in using precision measurement equipment (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges) to hold exceptionally tight tolerances.
Problem-Solving Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot tooling wear and machining defects on the fly.
Preferred Qualifications:
(A Plus, Not Required):Direct experience operating or setting up HAAS CNC milling machines.
Familiarity navigating Fanuc controls.
Basic understanding of CNC programming concepts with the ability to make minor program edits at the machine controller.

Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
