Role Description: The CNC Setup role at Performance CNC is a full-time, on-site position based in Oceanside, North San Diego County, CA. This role is responsible for setting up CNC machines, including loading programs, installing tooling and fixtures, and performing test runs to verify dimensions and quality. Day-to-day tasks include reading and interpreting blueprints and work instructions, adjusting machine offsets, performing basic troubleshooting, and coordinating with machinists and supervisors to meet production schedules. The CNC Setup team member will inspect parts using measurement tools, document setup information, follow established safety procedures, and help maintain a clean, organized work area. Collaboration with quality and production staff is expected to ensure parts meet specifications and customer requirements.
Qualifications: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions, including knowledge of basic GD&T.Hands-on experience setting up CNC mills and/or lathes, including tooling selection, fixture installation, and program loading. Proficiency with measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and indicators to verify part dimensions and quality. Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to make adjustments to machine offsets and tooling. Commitment to workplace safety, cleanliness, and adherence to standard operating procedures and quality standards. Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with machinists, programmers, and supervisors. Previous experience in a CNC machining or manufacturing environment; experience in high-precision or production machining is a plus. High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in machining or CNC operations is preferred.
