About the role
- Own mold tooling condition, performance, and readiness for production.
- Owner of the molding preventative maintenance program.
- Document in CMMS software mold PM's, insert changes, parts replacement
- Change, fit, and adjust mold inserts; track insert life and recommend repair or replacement.
- Perform tooling adjustments, honing, polishing, and minor retooling to maintain dimensional accuracy and part quality.
- Support mold setup, teardown, and tooling changes during production and trial runs.
- Diagnose and resolve tooling-related defects including flash, wear, cosmetic defects, and dimensional variation.
- Work closely with Molding Process Engineering Manager and Quality Teams to resolve tooling-related quality issues.
- Support first-article inspections, validations, and tooling-related process changes.
- Document tooling condition, insert life, and tooling modifications.
- Participate in new mold introductions and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work with external suppliers to quote mold repairs and coordinate the execution of the repairs.
- Technical or vocational training in mold making, tooling, or plastics processing.
- Mold polishing diploma
- Experience managing tooling lifecycle and insert replacement programs.
- Familiarity with IQ/OQ/PQ or validation activities related to tooling changes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
- Use of machinery for metal fabrication (lathe, mill, surface grinder, TIG welding)
- This position is not a general Maintenance Technician role. Facility maintenance, electrical work, and broad mechanical repair are not core responsibilities. Additional duties may be assigned as required to support business needs.
- Pay range for this position is $30.00-$35.00/hour
