About the role

Middle Level Math Interventionist The Math Interventionist is responsible for supporting student achievement in the area of Mathematics with special attention to Tier II and III instruction. The Interventionist provides individual or small group instruction to students who are struggling academically. This position is also responsible for monitoring, reporting, and communicating student progress and performance. Contract: 190 day contract (teacher salary)
Reports to: Under the general direction of the school level Principal and Assistant Principal
Desired Qualifications:
  • Teacher Certification in Secondary MathematicsTeacher Certification in MathematicsTeacher Certification in Special Education
  • Five years or more teaching experience
  • A deep level of understanding of the RTI (MTSS) process
  • Ability to incorporate state dept. support documents, standards, and data reviews for mathematics with rigor
  • Ability to interpret and utilize the MAP Learning Continuum
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to apply instructional strategies on differentiation
  • Strong organizational skillsAbility to multitask needs between multiple grade levels and instructional levels
  • Knowledge of collaboration practices, team teaching practices, and special education
  • Ability to collect data and make placement recommendation for students
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with school administrators, staff, students, and families
  • Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of student and staff information
Essential Functions:
  • Provides high quality mathematics instruction to individual students and small groups
  • Uses data to provide instruction to students and to bring their skills to grade-level
  • Collaborates with teachers, administration, and families to help identify best practices for individual and small groups of students
  • Uses identified research-based interventions focuses specifically on individual student needs
  • Maintains data-based documentation of continuous monitoring of student performance and progressProvides data to school teams and participates in decisions about student progress
  • Communicates with teachers, administration, and families regarding student progress
  • Assists with identifying students for placement in intervention groups
  • Participates in meetings with teachers, administration, and families to discuss student placement and progressProvides diagnostic assessments for students as needed
  • Provides input for program development
  • Uses a variety of hands-on and virtual activities and manipulatives to support content standards and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved
  • Fosters a classroom climate conducive to learning.
  • Promotes and maintains positive pupil-teacher relationships.
  • Possesses a strong commitment to help all children succeed.
  • Maintains professional work habits through satisfying professional obligations such as:
  • Managing job responsibilities while meeting established deadlines
  • Honoring schedules
