About the role
Job Description:
The weekend shift schedule is three 12-hour days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) from 6:00am to 6:00pm. Caldwell provides a weekend shift differential 22% of gross earnings per pay bi-weekly pay period. The Robot Weld Operator position is responsible for operating one or more industrial robots to fabricate metal parts or assemblies to specification by applying basic knowledge of welding theory on production.
Job Duties:
Clamps, holds, grinds, or bolts component parts to object required configurations and positions for welding
Moves machine controls and guides to adjust machine
Performs program edits to correct if a collision, fault, or error message occurs with the robot.
Unloads welded parts from the robotic welder and places them on appropriate containers and skids.
Performs basic MIG welding techniques, as needed, following weld standards
Performs grinding as needed to ensure product meets required specifications and quality standards
Examines finished work pieces to very conformance with specifications, according to operation inspection sheet, quality control plans, and/or customer notes using instruments such as gauges
Performs prescribed preventative maintenance on equipment and machines
Uses overhead crane to position weldments
Maintains a clean and orderly work area and equipment.
Complies with all safety rules and regulations.
Demonstrates the Caldwell values in all work activities.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
Two years of experience operating a weld robot
Two years of welding experience
Ability to pass a 2G horizontal weld test
Knowledge of welding equipment and tools including their design, uses, repair, and maintenance
Knowledge of wire and filler materials application for various steel alloys, SS, aluminum, and others
Knowledge of basic math skills
Ability to read and interpret documents including prints, weld symbols, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals
Strong verbal communication skills
Ability to obtain a certification on overhead crane and forklift
Work Environment:
Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level can be loud during periods in the manufacturing area.
Physical Requirements:
Continuously required to stand. Frequently required to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and engage in repetitive use of hands. Occasionally must bend; reach overhead; crouch, kneel, push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds; and talk and listen.
