(Sr) Lead, Retention Strategy & Operations
About us:
Health is the most important thing in life, and the American healthcare system is completely broken - poor outcomes, high cost, bad patient experience. We're building a new system from the ground up. Our mission is to improve people’s health by making it easy to live a healthy lifestyle. Nourish is the country's largest dietitian-led metabolic health clinic. We’re an AI-native digital health system matching patients with 10,000+ Registered Dietitians, physicians, medications, lab testing, and AI agents to deliver insurance-covered care across all 50 states. Founded four years ago, we've completed millions of appointments, tripled year-over-year, and partnered with health plans covering 200M+ Americans across 250+ health systems. This is not a job for everyone. We hold an extremely high bar because we believe talent density is our biggest competitive advantage. We're looking for people who actively choose hard, ambiguous problems, who run toward unglamorous work, give and receive candid feedback, and bring relentless resilience without the ego. Our work is important, but we are not self-important. We do this because we’re solving one of the hardest problems in the world, and the problem matters. If that's you, we disproportionately reward it.
About the Role:
We're building a new growth function at Nourish focused on one of the biggest opportunities in our business: helping more patients successfully engage with and return to care. As an early member of the team, you'll own some of our highest-priority patient retention problems from 0→1 — identifying where patients are falling out of care, sizing the biggest opportunities, developing the strategy to address them, and driving solutions that measurably improve conversion, retention, and reactivation. This is a strategic, analytical role at the intersection of strategy & operations, data, product, and lifecycle marketing. You'll start with ambiguous business problems, use data and patient insights to determine where we should focus, and then work cross-functionally to turn those opportunities into outcomes. This is not a role where you'll inherit a mature program and optimize campaigns. You'll help determine what we should build, why it matters, and how we'll know it's working — and then own the work through execution, experimentation, and cross-functional influence. You'll report to the Head of Lifecycle Marketing. This is a full-time role, with a preference for candidates based in NYC or SF (expectation of working from our office 3–4 days per week).Key Responsibilities: Identify and size the biggest opportunitiesacross the patient journey, using quantitative and qualitative data to understand where we're losing patients and where we can drive the most impact on retention and LTV.Own the strategy for high-priority retention problems, translating ambiguous business questions into clear hypotheses, roadmaps, and measurable goals. Drive 0→1 initiatives from insight to impact— define the problem, develop the approach, align cross-functional partners, and own execution through launch, measurement, and iteration. Own the metrics and experimentation roadmapfor your area, turning data and experiments into clear insights on what's working and where we should invest. Design and scale campaignsacross email, SMS, push, and product touch points — building segmentation strategy, personalization frameworks, and journey architecture. Partner with Product, Data, and Engineeringto turn strategic opportunities into product experiences and scalable lifecycle capabilities. We’d Love to Hear From You If You: You have 3–7 years of experience in strategy, consulting, product, growth, lifecycle marketing, or another high-impact role where you've owned ambiguous business problems and driven measurable outcomes. You're data-fluent and experimentation-rigorous, and can drive analysis from insight to action. Your strategy and decision making is rooted in data. You're a 0-to-1 builderwho has launched programs from scratch. You’re a self-starter who doesn’t wait for direction: you identify the highest-leverage work, define the plan, and drive it through ambiguity. You are deeply impact-oriented. You prioritize based on business outcomes, not activity, and have a track record of materially moving core metrics. You’re comfortable in fast-moving environments; you can juggle multiple priorities, adapt quickly when things shift, and thrive in hyper-growth. You can work well cross-functionally, building trust and alignment with different teams in a low-ego way.
Nice to haves:
- Experience in lifecycle marketing (including hands on ESP expertise, such as customer.io, braze, iterable)
- Experience at fast-growing tech or healthcare startup
- People leadership or strong coaching skills
- Fluency with modern mar-tech stacks and engineering partnerships
Before you apply
Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.
Your profile is current
It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.
Two examples you can talk through
Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.
A number in mind
What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.
Your notice period
Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.
Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
