About the role
- Learn company products, procedures, culture, and customer service philosophy.
- Load and unload millwork products, including windows, doors, trim, hardware, and other building materials, according to sales invoices and delivery schedules.
- Prepare and stage customer orders for pickup and delivery, ensuring accuracy and product quality.
- Accurately record all merchandise returns on a credit memo.
- Receive, inspect, stock, and organize millwork inventory and vendor deliveries.
- Label, track, and organize special-order millwork products.
- Listen and work with customers to identify and meet their product and service needs.
- Assist with handling, packaging, and securing windows, doors, trim, and other millwork products to prevent damage.
- Assist with basic maintenance and safe operation of equipment such as forklifts, banders, saws, and other material-handling equipment.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe millwork shop, warehouse, and yard.
- Assist with occasional deliveries as a driver helper, including loading, unloading, and delivering materials to customers when needed.
- Perform duties in all types of weather conditions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications:
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Ability to operate or obtain certification for forklifts and chainsaws.
- Desire to learn and grow professionally.
- Self-motivated and productive.
- Physical strength to lift and carry 75 pounds consistently.
- Ability to use a tape measure and follow directions.
- Customer-oriented self-starter who is a quick learner and adapts easily to new tasks.
- Must be willing to work outside in various weather conditions.
- Knowledge of and ability to understand basic mechanical systems.
- Lumber yard material handling, order fulfillment, and long-load forklift experience is helpful.
