Job Description: Job Description Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO)DAP Construction Management (DAP) is seeking an experienced Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO)to support federal construction projects, including work with theU.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE)and other government agencies. Projects are performed on active federal installations, including military bases. The SSHO will be responsible for implementing and enforcing site safety programs in accordance with EM 385-1-1, OSHA regulations, and contract-specific requirements. This role requires a strong understanding of federal safety standards, proactive field presence, and the ability to work closely with project teams and Government representatives.
Position Overview: The SSHO serves as the on-site safety authority, responsible for ensuring all work is performed safely and in full compliance with federal, state, and company safety requirements. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a safe work environment, preventing incidents, and supporting overall project success.
Key Responsibilities: Implement and enforce site-specific Accident Prevention Plans (APPs) in accordance withEM 385-1-1 Monitor daily construction activities to ensure compliance with OSHA, USACE, and contract safety requirements Conduct daily safety inspections, job hazard analyses (JHAs), and risk assessments Lead daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety orientations Identify and correct unsafe conditions and behaviors immediately Maintain all required safety documentation, logs, and reports Coordinate with Government Safety Officers, Quality Assurance Representatives (QARs), and project leadership Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety violations; implement corrective actions Ensure subcontractor compliance with all safety requirements and site-specific plans Support project teams in maintaining a safe, clean, and organized job site
Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years of experienceas an SSHO on federal construction projects Direct experience working withUSACE (Army Corps of Engineers)projects strongly preferred In-depth knowledge ofEM 385-1-1and OSHA safety standards CurrentEM 385-1-1 certification (SSHO qualified)OSHA30-hour (or higher)certification required (OSHA 40-hour preferred)First Aid/CPR/AED certification (current)Strong communication and leadership skills Ability to work on active construction sites, including military installations
