About the role
About the Role:
We're partnering with a global agricultural commodity trading company with a significant presence in Latin America. They're looking for an International Controller to lead accounting and financial reporting across their global operations. This is a planned succession hire, and the role is set up to grow into the VP of Accounting seat over time. It's a high-visibility position working closely with the CFO and the rest of the C-suite, leading a small, close-knit accounting team inside a finance and trade group of about 10 to 12 people.
What You'll Do:
You'll lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close for international entities and oversee global consolidations under U.S. GAAPYou'll manage foreign currency accounting, intercompany transactions, eliminations, and settlements across a multi-entity structure You'll oversee accounting for physical commodity purchases, sales, inventory, freight, storage, and financing, including valuation, cut-off, and goods in transit You'll partner with trading, operations, logistics, treasury, credit, and risk teams, and review deal profitability and revenue recognition You'll maintain accounting policies and internal controls across international locations, and coordinate external audits, statutory audits, and local compliance You'll work with tax leadership and outside advisors on international tax, transfer pricing, and entity compliance You'll lead and develop accounting teams in the U.S. and abroad, and set consistent standards and expectations across regions You'll play a key role in an upcoming SAP implementation, along with ongoing work to improve and standardize the global close and reporting process
What You Bring:
Must-haves: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 10+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience Several years of experience managing and developing teams International, multi-entity, and multi-currency experience Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, consolidations, FX accounting, intercompany, and statutory reporting Experience working with external auditors, tax advisors, and international finance teams Nice-to-haves: Spanish language skills (a big plus)SAP experience, especially through an implementationA background in commodities, agriculture, energy, metals, manufacturing, distribution, or another transaction-heavy global business
Compensation: $175K to $250K base, plus annual bonus
