Engineering Project Manager12-Month+ Contract | 1st Shift | Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM ET | Onsite 4 Days/WeekOur client, a global leader in the medical device industry, has an immediate opening for an Engineering Project Manager for a 12-month+ contract opportunity. This role will lead complex capital equipment, manufacturing, automation, and engineering projects from initial planning through equipment installation, validation, and production launch. The Engineering Project Manager will work closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Facilities, Supply Chain, Sourcing, and external equipment vendors to keep projects on schedule, within budget, and aligned with manufacturing objectives. What You’ll Do: Lead multiple capital equipment and manufacturing projects through planning, execution, validation, installation, and production launch. Develop and manage project scope, schedules, budgets, resource plans, milestones, and risk mitigation strategies. Drive alignment across Engineering, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, Facilities, Sourcing, and leadership teams. Monitor project performance and proactively identify and resolve risks, issues, schedule delays, and resource constraints. Evaluate and manage project changes impacting scope, schedule, cost, or technical strategy. Manage equipment suppliers, contractors, and external partners throughout project execution. Lead equipment design reviews, technical discussions, and project status meetings. Coordinate Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), equipment installation, and commissioning. Hold vendors accountable for contractual obligations, technical deliverables, schedules, and performance expectations. Coordinate development of User Requirements Specifications (URS), risk assessments, and other project deliverables. Partner with technical SMEs to ensure equipment designs meet manufacturing, quality, safety, and operational requirements. Support validation planning and execution, including FAT, SAT, IQ/OQ/PQ, engineering studies, and process qualifications. Facilitate change control activities and ensure projects comply with applicable procedures and regulatory requirements. Develop and manage Capital Expenditure Requests (CERs), project budgets, and financial justifications. Track project spending, forecast capital requirements, and identify opportunities to improve project ROI.Support strategic manufacturing initiatives, including automation, insourcing, capacity expansion, and manufacturing technology improvements.
What We’re Looking For: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related technical field.4+ years of experience leading large-scale manufacturing or engineering projects, particularly projects involving capital equipment. Strong experience working within a manufacturing environment. Experience within medical device, pharmaceutical, aerospace, or another regulated manufacturing industry. Proven experience managing capital equipment suppliers, contractors, and external vendors. Experience supporting equipment installation, commissioning, and validation activities. Strong understanding of FAT, SAT, IQ/OQ/PQ, change control, and validation requirements. Demonstrated ability to manage project scope, schedules, budgets, resources, and risks. Strong cross-functional leadership, stakeholder management, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills. Experience with automation projects, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma methodologies. Proficiency with project management tools such as Microsoft Project or Smartsheet. PMP or other project management certification preferred.
