About the role
About the Role:
Iron Yellow, LLC is looking for an experienced Heavy Hauling Driver to join our team. In this role, you'll operate a Class A semi tractor with air brakes, pulling a hydraulic tail (hydra-tail) trailer with a gross combination weight of more than 80,000 pounds. You'll safely transport heavy machinery, equipment, and materials to and from job sites, customer locations, and our facilities.
What You'll Do:
Operate a semi tractor with air brakes and an open-deck hydra-tail trailer with up to six axles.
Use the trailer's hydraulic tail to safely load and unload equipment, and haul oversize and overweight loads, including machines weighing up to 60,000 pounds.
Secure all cargo in compliance with FMCSA regulations and company safety standards.
Operate construction equipment as needed to load and unload it safely.
Navigate safely through heavy traffic, congested city areas, and tight job sites.
Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, and report any defects on the Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR).
Receive dispatches and report load status using company-provided electronic devices.
Keep accurate electronic logs (ELD) in line with state and federal hours-of-service rules.
Stay in regular contact with your supervisor or dispatcher about delivery instructions and schedule changes.
Work directly with customers and vendors professionally and courteously.
Keep customer and company information confidential.
What You'll Need:
High school diploma or GED.
At least one year of related experience, a one-year certificate from a college or technical school, or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
A valid Class A CDL with no air brake restriction and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
A current DOT medical card.
Experience operating air-brake equipped tractors and hydraulic tail or similar equipment trailers, and hauling construction equipment.
Ability to work safely with tools, chains, binders, and securement equipment.
Ability to read and follow written and verbal instructions, and to write simple reports and correspondence.
Good judgment and the ability to make sound decisions on your own in a timely way.
Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and physical abilities assessment.
Flexibility to work varied schedules, including early starts, overtime, and occasional weekends as needed.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to climb on and off trailers and equipment safely.
Ability to lift and handle chains, binders, and other securement gear.
