About the role

Youth in the East Bay are in desperate need of caring adults like YOU. This is an in-person mentoring program where you will spend time with your mentee exploring, talking, and learning about them. You might play basketball together, work on homework, or just try new foods. There is no set curriculum (don't worry, we have activities you can do if you get stuck) but there is a lot of freedom to do anything that interests you both.
What we're looking for: Caring adults 21 or over who have reliable access to a car Someone who is empathetic, a good listener, and wants to make a difference in a young person's life. You do NOT have to have lived the perfect life. Often youth learn best from mistakes we're willing to share with them. A commitment of a minimum of 1 hour a week for a full year All mentors are required to complete a background check and training. Our mentoring coordinator will be available for support throughout the program (from beginning to end). Many of the youth we serve have never had an adult really listen and care for them until they get a mentor. Often, they feel the world is against them. We believe in the potential of every child, and mentoring as a tool to help youth succeed. Mentoring can make a HUGE difference in a kids life...can you commit to helping out local kids?

Before you apply

Applying takes about a minute. These four things decide how fast it moves after that.

Your profile is current

It's what we read first. Occupations, seniority and locations matter more than a long history.

Two examples you can talk through

Not a portfolio — just two pieces of work where you can explain the decisions and what you'd change.

A number in mind

What you're on now and what would make you move. We negotiate better when we know both.

Your notice period

Employers plan around it, and it's the question that stalls offers most often.

Once you apply, someone reads it and calls you before anything reaches the employer — usually within two working days.
